Arsenal are on the verge of completing a significant summer transfer, with reports confirming they’re closing in on a £50 million deal to sign Noni Madueke. Personal terms have already been agreed with the 23-year-old England international, who is set to sign a five-year contract keeping him at the Emirates until 2030.
Madueke, who joined Chelsea from PSV Eindhoven in January 2023 for around £28.5 million, has made 91 appearances for the Blues, scoring 11 goals and providing five assists. He particularly impressed during Chelsea’s Club World Cup campaign, contributing five goal involvements. Despite showing flashes of his immense talent, Madueke has struggled for consistency, especially when deployed on the left flank — where he failed to register a goal or assist in seven starts last season.
Arsenal have identified Noni Madueke as a valuable addition to bolster their attacking options, particularly as a rotation option and backup for Bukayo Saka on the right wing. Mikel Arteta values Madueke’s 1v1 ability, direct dribbling, and aggression in wide areas, attributes that could relieve the burden on Saka and Gabriel Martinelli across a demanding campaign.
Chelsea, meanwhile, are open to selling the winger as they aim to balance their financial books after heavy investment in attacking talent, including Liam Delap, João Pedro, and Jamie Gittens. The arrival of young South American stars Estêvão Willian and Kendry Páez has also increased competition, making Madueke’s Stamford Bridge future uncertain.
Though Chelsea reportedly value Madueke closer to £55 million — citing Newcastle’s recent £55m capture of Anthony Elanga as a benchmark — Arsenal are attempting to negotiate a fee closer to £40 million.
The potential deal has divided Arsenal supporters, with some wary of signing another inconsistent Chelsea player, while others recognize Madueke’s raw talent and see him as a valuable squad addition capable of easing Saka’s workload.
