Borussia Dortmund has announced that Chelsea will soon sign their young English winger, Jamie Gittens! Jamie, who is 20 years old, will be moving to Chelsea on a seven-year contract. Reports say the deal is worth about 55 million pounds.
Both teams are currently in the United States playing in the Club World Cup and have made it to the quarter-finals. The agreement was reached in Fort Lauderdale, but a few contract details still need to be sorted out.
Jamie Gittens started at Dortmund in 2020 after leaving Manchester City’s youth academy. He made his first appearance with the senior team in 2022 and has played 107 games for Dortmund, scoring 17 goals.
Dortmund’s managing director, Lars Ricken, said Jamie’s story shows how Dortmund helps young players get better and gives them chances to play at the highest level. He said Jamie worked hard, showed lots of commitment, and scored important goals.
Chelsea are signing Jamie to make their left wing stronger, especially since they decided not to keep Jadon Sancho, who was on loan from Manchester United.
