Botafogo Sign Joaquin Correa Ahead of Club World Cup

Botafogo have strengthened their attack just in time for the FIFA Club World Cup by signing Argentine forward Joaquin Correa on a deal that runs until the end of 2027. The Brazilian Serie A side announced the move on Tuesday, confirming that Correa joins the team on a free transfer after his contract with Inter Milan expired.

“Correa, who will wear the number 30 shirt, will join the Botafogo delegation in the United States for the FIFA Club World Cup,” the club said in a statement.

The 30-year-old brings a wealth of experience with him. He began his professional career in 2012 with Estudiantes de La Plata and has since played for Sampdoria, Sevilla, Lazio, Olympique de Marseille, and most recently Inter Milan, where he spent last season.

A major highlight of Correa’s career was helping Argentina win the 2021 Copa America, and Botafogo will be counting on his talent and experience as they prepare for a challenging group at the Club World Cup.

Botafogo are in Group B of the tournament and will face Atletico Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain, and Seattle Sounders in the group stage — a tough set of fixtures where Correa’s attacking presence could prove vital.
