Atalanta Signs Kamaldeen Sulemana from Southampton for €17.5 Million

Atalanta, a top soccer team from Italy, has just signed Kamaldeen Sulemana, a talented winger from Ghana, for €17.5 million! The 23-year-old is leaving England’s Southampton to join the Italian Serie A team on a four-year contract, with the option to stay for a fifth year. The deal could get even bigger, with Atalanta possibly paying up to €4 million extra in add-ons. Southampton will also get 15% of any future transfer fee if Sulemana is sold again.

Kamaldeen Sulemana

Sulemana first joined Southampton in February 2023, coming from the French club Stade Rennais for a club-record fee of about £22 million. During his time in England, he played 74 games, scored 4 goals, and made 7 assists. Even though he showed some amazing speed and attacking skills, things didn’t always go well. Southampton struggled a lot last season, finishing last in the Premier League and getting relegated.

Now, Sulemana is getting a fresh start in Italy. He’ll be reuniting with his old manager from Southampton, Ivan Juric, who really wanted him at Atalanta. Juric is famous for his attacking style, and fans hope this will help Sulemana play at his best again. While at Southampton, Sulemana got to play 12 out of 16 games under Juric, which was his longest streak of games since moving from France.

This move is a big chance for Sulemana to show everyone how good he really is, just like Ademola Lookman, another African star who did amazing things in Italy and won the CAF Player of the Year award.

Sulemana’s soccer journey began in Ghana, his home country, and then took him to Denmark with FC Nordsjælland before moving to France and then England. He even played in European tournaments like the UEFA Conference League and Europa League. Sulemana made his first appearance for Ghana’s national team in 2020 and now has 20 caps. If he does well in Italy this season, he might be called up again for the World Cup if Ghana qualifies.

Atalanta’s fans are excited to see what Sulemana can do, and he’ll even get to play alongside another Ghanaian player, Ibrahim Sulemana, who could become a star too.

This is Atalanta’s first big signing this summer, and everyone will be watching to see how Kamaldeen Sulemana does in his new Italian adventure!
