Bologna have officially completed the signing of veteran Italian striker Ciro Immobile from Besiktas, marking a significant addition to their squad ahead of the 2025-26 season. The transfer was confirmed on July 10, 2025, following the mutual termination of Immobile’s contract with the Turkish side. The 35-year-old forward has signed a one-year contract with Bologna, with an option to extend for a further season, potentially keeping him at the club until 2027.
Immobile’s arrival marks his return to Serie A, where he previously built a remarkable legacy. The former Lazio captain remains the club’s all-time leading scorer with 207 goals and currently sits eighth on the all-time Serie A goalscorers list with 201 league goals. His storied career in Italy has included spells with Juventus, Genoa, Torino, and, most famously, Lazio, where he won multiple Capocannoniere titles.
After leaving Lazio in 2024, Immobile joined Besiktas and made a strong impact in the Turkish Super Lig, scoring 19 goals in 41 appearances during the 2024-25 campaign. However, both parties agreed to part ways this summer, paving the way for his homecoming.
Bologna, who finished ninth in Serie A last season and lifted the Coppa Italia, are looking to build on their domestic success and make a mark in European competition as they prepare for the 2025-26 UEFA Europa League. Immobile’s experience, leadership, and proven goal-scoring record are expected to bolster Bologna’s attacking options and provide a valuable mentor to the club’s younger talents.
This move reunites Immobile with Serie A, a league where he’s long been one of the most consistent forwards, and offers him one final chapter in Italian football with the chance to add to his impressive goal tally and compete on the European stage once again.
