Atletico Madrid has a new player! They just signed Johnny Cardoso, a 23-year-old midfielder, from Real Betis for about 25 million euros. The club announced that Cardoso will be playing for them for the next five seasons and will wear the famous red and white jersey.
Johnny Cardoso was born in New Jersey, so he plays for the United States national team, but he also has Brazilian roots. Plus, he has an Italian passport, which lets him play in Europe without any problems.
Just a day earlier, Atletico Madrid also brought in Thiago Almada, a 24-year-old attacker from Botafogo in Brazil. And earlier this summer, they signed playmaker Alex Baena from Villarreal and defender Matteo Ruggeri from Atalanta.
With these new signings, Atletico Madrid hopes to have a much better season next year, especially after a disappointing 2024-2025 when they didn’t win any trophies.
Welcome, Johnny Cardoso! 🇺🇸🇧🇷
