Chelsea is talking to AC Milan about getting France goalkeeper Mike Maignan.
The Italian team thinks Maignan is worth around £25m, but the Blues don’t want to pay that much and are discussing a lower price.
The 29-year-old has been a regular player for Milan since he joined on a five-year deal from Lille in 2021.
He has also been the main choice for France since Hugo Lloris retired from international play in January 2023, and he has earned 30 caps since 2020.
According to sources, Maignan has expressed interest in moving to Stamford Bridge, as reported by BBC Sport.
Chelsea has had a hard time finding a long-term goalkeeper since they bought Kepa Arrizabalaga in 2018 for £71m, which is still the highest fee ever paid for a goalkeeper.
Two years later, they brought in Edouard Mendy, who left for Al-Ahli in 2023, while Kepa has been on loan at Real Madrid and then Bournemouth for the last two seasons.
In the last two years, Chelsea has also signed Robert Sanchez, Djordje Petrovic, and Filip Jorgensen, but the club seems unsure about all three.
Petrovic was on loan at Strasbourg last season, while Sanchez and Jorgensen had time in the Chelsea first team.
Chelsea is negotiating with Milan about the French goalkeeper Maignan.
🚨 Mike Maignan has informed AC Milan he wants to join Chelsea.
The Italian club are still holding out for £20m-£25m, but the goalkeeper has made it clear he wants to leave.
