Paris Saint-Germain’s manager, Luis Enrique, hopes star striker Ousmane Dembele will be ready to face Chelsea in the Club World Cup final this Sunday. PSG is feeling super confident after they destroyed Real Madrid 4-0 in the semifinals.
Dembele is one of the favorites to win the Ballon d’Or (the award for the best player in the world), but he missed all the group games because of a thigh injury. He could only come off the bench in some earlier matches, but on Wednesday he finally started his first game of the tournament against Real Madrid.
Dembele didn’t waste any time making a difference! He helped Fabian Ruiz score the first goal just six minutes in, and then he scored one himself three minutes later. The game was played at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.
Luis Enrique has said before that Dembele deserves the Ballon d’Or, and after this game he doubled down, calling Dembele his best player.
“This was the first time I got to see my best player, Dembele, playing his best,” Enrique said. “He’s a special player, someone every fan wants to watch. I really hope he’s healthy for the final.”
If PSG wins the trophy against Chelsea on Sunday, it will finish off an amazing season for the team. They already won the Champions League with a huge 5-0 win against Inter, and Enrique could lead PSG to win every trophy possible this year.
“We’re just one game away from making history,” Enrique told reporters. “It would mean so much for the club and our fans if we could win every competition.”
