If Man United want to match Newcastle, they’d have to spend a lot more money than they planned, and that’s something they promised they wouldn’t do again.
After Ineos took control of Manchester United, the club has tried not to repeat old mistakes—like paying too much for Jadon Sancho, Antony, or Rasmus Hojlund. Those deals cost United a lot of money after long negotiations, and they want to avoid that now.
United have been trying to figure out if Sesko really wants to play for them. They don’t want to pay so much unless they know he’s truly excited to join the club.
But here’s the twist: on Monday night, people said Newcastle’s first offer was €80 million, and it could go up to €90 million with bonuses. It seems Sesko actually wants to go to Newcastle and play at St James’ Park!
If Man United miss out on Sesko, they might try again for Watkins from Aston Villa. But even that won’t be easy, and they are also looking at other strikers just in case.
It’s also important to remember that United want to sign more than just a striker. They hope to buy a new midfielder and a new goalkeeper this summer, too. But if they spend almost €90 million on Sesko, it might make it hard to buy anyone else!
