Luis Enrique Says PSG Are Making History After Beating Inter Miami 4-0

Paris Saint-Germain’s manager, Luis Enrique, says his team is making history after they beat Inter Miami 4-0 in the Club World Cup last 16 on Sunday.

PSG have already won the French league, the French Cup, and the Champions League this season. Now, they’re hoping to win the Club World Cup to finish a perfect season.

“This is a historic season for our club, and we want to keep making history in this competition,” said Luis Enrique, who used to coach Barcelona.

The game was special for Luis Enrique because he got to see some old friends. Lionel Messi, who now plays for Miami, and Miami’s coach Javier Mascherano, were both key players for Barcelona when Luis Enrique was in charge there from 2014 to 2017.

“It was a really special game because I saw people who are important to me. We shared good times and bad times together,” said Luis Enrique, who is 55 years old.

When reporters asked if he’d like to coach Messi in Europe again, he said that’s a question for Messi. “Everyone knows how great he is, and he still has those skills. It’s tough to play against a player like him. It was hard, but I think our team did a fantastic job,” he explained.

PSG played super well in the first half and made the game feel settled before halftime. Inter Miami played better in the second half and had more chances, but PSG’s strong start made the difference.

“I think that first half was when we really controlled the game. We didn’t let them have any real chances, but in the second half, maybe because of the score, Inter Miami created more trouble for us,” Luis Enrique said.

Now, PSG will face either Flamengo or Bayern Munich in the quarter-finals. But Luis Enrique says his team needs to keep their focus.

“We have to stay focused,” he said. “I’m not thinking about holidays or next season. Right now, we need to rest and get ready for the next game.”
