Tottenham Hotspur have officially signed Mathys Tel from Bayern Munich after he spent four months on loan with the Premier League team.
Mathys Tel, who is 20 years old and plays for France’s Under-21 team, has now signed a contract with Tottenham that lasts until 2031. Reports say the transfer cost around 30 million pounds (which is about 41 million dollars).
Max Eberl, Bayern’s head of sports, said that Mathys Tel started his career at Bayern when he was very young and worked hard to play at the top level in Europe. He was well liked by his teammates and always gave his best for the club. Moving to Tottenham was the right choice for his growth as a player.

Tel joined Bayern in 2022 from Stade Rennes with a four-year contract and even extended it to 2029 last year. He scored 16 goals in 83 games for Bayern but had trouble becoming a regular starter.
In February, he went to Tottenham on loan and played 20 games. He was also part of the team that helped Tottenham win their first big trophy in 17 years by beating Manchester United 1-0 in the Europa League final.
Mathys Tel is the first new player signed by Tottenham’s new coach Thomas Frank, who was hired last Thursday after the previous coach Ange Postecoglou was let go.
