Inter Miami and Al Ahly kicked off the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup with an exciting game that ended 0-0 at Hard Rock Stadium. Even though there were no goals, the match had a lot of action and drama, especially in the first half. This result marked the third draw for Al Ahly in their last 28 Club World Cup matches—they’ve won 11 and lost 14.
Many fans came to the stadium hoping to see Lionel Messi work his magic, but it was goalkeeper Oscar Ustari who stole the spotlight early on. He made several amazing saves in the first half to stop Al Ahly from scoring.
The first big moment came when Wessam Abou Ali broke through and forced a great save just eight minutes in. A few minutes later, Emam Ashour also had a strong shot, but Ustari was ready again. Then Ali put the ball in the net, but the goal didn’t count because he was offside. After that, Ustari made another fantastic stop, this time from very close range against Achraf Dari.
Inter Miami’s defense was having a hard time keeping up with Al Ahly’s fast counter-attacks. Right before halftime, it looked like Al Ahly might finally score. Zizo was fouled in the box and won a penalty, but Ustari made a heroic double save—first stopping Trezeguet’s penalty and then blocking the rebound too!
Even with all their chances, Al Ahly were almost punished right before the break. Inter Miami came close to scoring, but Ali cleared the ball off the line to keep the score at 0-0.
At halftime, Inter Miami coach Javier Mascherano must have said something powerful because his team came out stronger in the second half. They finally had a big chance when Tadeo Allende got the ball near the goal, but Mohamed El Shenawy, Al Ahly’s goalkeeper, made a smart save by spreading himself wide.

As the game went on, the hot Miami weather seemed to wear the players down, and the action slowed in the last 20 minutes. Still, there were two big moments near the end. Messi almost scored with a beautiful curling shot, but El Shenawy made an incredible fingertip save to push it onto the crossbar. Then, from the corner that followed, there was chaos in the box, but no goal.
With strong teams like Porto and Palmeiras also in their group, both Inter Miami and Al Ahly probably wanted to win this game. But even though they didn’t get all three points, both teams had some great moments and can feel good about parts of their performance.
